Venting about job search...Has anyone experienced this?Rating: (votes: 0) ![]() ha, this pretty much is exactly how it is for me and for my classmates and all other new nurses I know. They don't need to respond to you or even look at your stuff because thousands of more qualified people have also applied for the same spot. I just keep applying but it feels a bit like slamming my head into a brick wall... Comment:
I have had the same problem, even after I was hired. I waited 5 monthes for a facility to bring me on board. When that happened...I called and told them I was interviewing the next day with our competitor and that afternoon I received my call to come in.I found this to be the norm lately. I agree it is so frustrating. I think human resource departments are running on skeleton crews. Just my opinion.

Apparently, common courtesy IS too much to ask these days. I've not only had the same experience as you in job-hunting (as a long-time, experienced advanced practice nurse), but, now that I've found a good job and am trying to relocate to start the job in a couple weeks, I'm having the same experience in trying to find rental housing in my new location. I've responded to probably 50 listings for rental houses in the past month, and only a tiny minority of those people have even bothered to respond to my e-mails or 'phone messages.Extremely frustrating ...Best wishes for your job-hunting! Employment is definitely a buyer's (employer's) market these days, and I'm sure a lot of them don't feel they have to make any particular effort when they have many applicants for each opening. Hang in there!

Yep. It happened to me. From all the interviews I had while searching a job as a nurse, only one supervisor called me back to let me know that I wasn't the right candidate. I was a New Grad. During the interview, she let me know ahead of time that they will take me in consideration despite my lack of experience. However, if she interviewed somebody with more experience that they will take this individual instead. That seemed reasonable. At this moment, my least favorite people are nurse recruiters/supervisors who don't bother calling you back. Some hospitals have a system where they email you a rejection letter. I would prefer getting a rejection letter, instead of people giving me the run around and giving me false hopes.

When I encounter this type of behavior in job searching, I just put the place on my short list of employers to refrain from wasting my time on.

I hope you all get hired soon.

Could you go visit HR or the hospital in person? Harder to ignore you when you are standing there.. Just a thought

I just posted this link in another thread. It's not a direct answer to your question, but should help you in landing a job if you follow the advice of this particular new grad:http://allnurses.com/general-nursing...ob-532817.html

Problem is those who are not working cannot drive around just to say "hi" when gas is at 4.00 a gallon. It really makes a difference.
