What constitutes a preceptor?

I need to check our union book, but our DNS, told my manager that you only get preceptor pay if the nurse is a new grad. If a nurse comes to us with any experience, you get nothing.
What is your policy? I totally disagree with this. Even an experienced nurse is extra work when they are new to a facility.
I work at a non-union facility and receive an additional $2 per hour if I precept any new employee, regardless of previous experience.

At a unionized clinical site, preceptors get an extra dollar per hour for precepting senior students, or new grads. But I'm not sure about experienced employees.

We get nothing extra for precepting anyone.

I'm precepting a new nurse again. Previously, one was an experienced nurse, and this one is a new grad. I get nothing extra but "thank yous" and added weight to my valued status that gets me whatever schedule I want, time off *instantly* whenever I ask for it, etc.

We used to not get anything. Now, we get $200 when the 6 weeks of orientation is complete and an additional $200 after the nurse has been there a year. This is only for new grads, I believe.

I've never been a preceptor to anyone, but i think that is wrong. It is extra work to take on any nurse, regardless if they are experienced or not.
