bolus feeding for keofeedRating: (votes: 0) I could be totally wrong, but my thought is a post-pyloric tube bolus may increase intestinal distress and lead to diarrhea. That is my best guess. Comment:
1.) If it's a small bore feeding tube, it can clog easily, esp when given a bolus feed. 2.) When you feed into the intestine, there is increased blood flow in the intestine. If this flow is compromized from hemodynamic instability, it could result in complications such as intestinal ischemia. 3.) Bolus feeding into the small intestine can cause osmotic diarrhea and cramping.
