Partial bedbath/procedure

I got some iffy answers from the cna forum,so I thought Id ask some experienced nurses on what do with partial bed bath. Is it wrong to dip the soapy washcloth in the basin of water?
How about a washcloth that's just wet with no soap, can you place it back in the basin after it's been used? How many washcloths is required? My teacher used 3 wascloth, and 2 towels (other teachers have diff methods). Any help would be great... Thx
I like one wash cloth that starts with the face, goes to hands, and then underarms. Another one for genitalia, and another one that does the rear. In the past I have placed a chux pad on the bed/table and dropped the dirty washcloths there after I use them. I don't put dirty washcloths back into my clean/soapy water.
