Palp?

When a nurse says "Your BP is 90/palp," what does that mean?
You can palpate the systolic part of the BP but not the diastolic. So if they could only palpate the BP instead of auscultating, that is how they chart it. HTH :-)

Comment:
It means the nurse measured the BP without using a stethoscope, by palpating with the fingertips. Here's a site:http://bcs.medinfo.ufl.edu/sample/page06.html

Thanks for the responses!

Comment:
If she can palpate over the brachial artery ONLY, then the systolic is between 60-80. If you can palpate the radial, then the systolic is greater than 80.
