dover business college fails whole class

1 Hi,
I'm currently a senior LPN student at dover business college. My pinning is October 22nd but today my class of ten took a NLN exit exam and not one of us passed. We were told an 85 percent was needed to pass and it has supposedly been like this since 2008. But we were also told this exam was harder than last years. All of us have gotten grades ranging from 80 to 84. Please can someone from previous classes tell me what the requirement was for there NLN. We as a group have tried to contact NLN and the board of nursing and have only been told the school sets the standards. Please someone help us out!
Sorry to say, but good for Dover. It does no one any good to "pass" students who are incapable of taking the national licensing exam. I understand your angst, but hearing from other students likely won't help your cause. If, in your school's experience, your class shouldn't graduate, it is likely true. The NLN tells the truth: the school, and only the school, can set the passing standard.

Never head of an NLN exit exam. If no one has graduated from this place in 4 years why are people still going? Seems fishy to me. Contact your state BON.

p.s. Dover's website advertises a 94.7 NCLEX pass percentage. It is understandable that they do not want to graduate a <85% class who will drag their pass ratio down.

It's unfortunate, but it sounds like if the school sets the standards and they weren't met, there is nothing that can be done. Have you talked to the Dean or whomever is in charge? 85 is pretty high up there... I have heard of a required 75 - 78 before. Good luck to you and your class. Hopefully a remediation of some sort can be worked out.

I would think the state BON would be intensely interested in the school's behavior. A school with a 0% graduation rate should raise some serious accreditation questions with the BON.

AND with the NLN.

If this college has an entire class that can not pass perhaps they should recognize that they have been ineffective in their teaching and examine what they can do to remedy the situation.

Exactly right unfortunately they don't care though because they areA profit school and blame students instead of faculty and curriculum

I have also never heard of an NLN exit exam. And I graduated in 2007. Were you given study materials directly for this exam? I would also contact the NLN and let them know, and see if you have the ability to re-take the exam? Seems like a scam if you then have to pay another multiple thousand dollars to go through the program again! And the fact that all 10 of your classmates also failed to get the minimum acceptable grade.
