Hi!Here in PH.. employer should pay all that.

Did they seek you out via head hunter or other means? If you applied for the job on your own, I would think you are responsible for travel expenses to get to the interview. Especially if it is a non-specialized, general staff position. If you were recruited by the facility directly (i.e. you did not submit an application but they contacted you about your resume or reputation), then I could see the potential employer paying travel expenses and possibly relocation expenses. My sister was recruited for a senior staff position in a specialty department that required specific certifications, training, and experience. The facility paid not only for her travel expenses for the interview, but a sign on bonus and relocation expenses (including fees to terminate her lease) and other perks. This scenario is rather rare right now in healthcare especially with an abundance of new grad & experienced nurses searching for employment.

I think the answer to this is obvious, if they were really desperate and really needed people really badly then they'd pay to fly out out. However they don't seem to be that desperate.Generally it's whoever "needs" the other party more that winds up paying for travel cost.

Quote from lifein08Hello I am in Texas and have an interview for a nursing position in IL. But the potential employer said they won't pay for my travel? Is it normal? Do you have any experience with this? Thank you

Comment:
They are not your "employer", therefore no.Some will, especially for highly experienced or sought after candidates. But that is not an entitlement, by any stretch of the imagination.

Comment:
If they want you badly, they will pay. If you want them badly, you will pay.

Comment:
If this is a just a regular staff position then I wouldn't expect them to pay. Try to line up a few places to see/interview within a few days.Best wishes!!!

Comment:
Thank you to everyone. The position is a management position..so that is why I thought they will pay for travel.

Comment:
Ask them ... that's how you'll find out .

Apparently its not a highly valued position so I would think twice about spending the money? Do you really want to move to TX? It's hot and dry and they have droughts and fires down there lately. If they won't spend the money for your travel expenses is it worth it? Usually for management positions you expect travel reimbursement!

I always have the impression that travel expenses for seeking employment is a tax deduction. I may be wrong...
