Venofer

Patients who have had many blood transfusions should not receive Venofer IV infusions...why is this?
Iron toxicity.

Potential for iron overload. Very bad.

Thanks guys...I have been researching this and this is what I have been suspecting even though what I have been reading never comes right out and says this. A patient that we have that is receiving this infusion has had blood transfusions in the past..so labs should be ordered stat then...thanks again
