Should I go back to the floor?

I've been a nurse for about 10 years - 5 in acute med/surg and another 5 in UM (a short stint in LTC supervising within the last 5 years). I just finished my BSN and really want to get back into some sort of patient care (wound or ambulatory care, something like that). I really do not want to go back to the floor, but I think not having recent acute experience is hurting my chances some. I don't miss the insanity of it one single bit, but do you think going back to the floor for say 6 months or so would be worth it??
I'm in the same boat. I have a bachelor's degree and sub as a school nurse. I would like to find something a little different in addition part-time where I can use more clinical skills or even teach but everything requires recent clinical experience. I do think it would be worth it and I'm planning on just biting the bullet and doing it just to give myself more opportunities. I'll just have to keep reminding myself it's not forever!

If you don't want to, don't do it. You need to decide exactly what position you want and apply your newly, hard won BSN ... and your other awesome skill of UM to the job .It is not fair to take any position with the goal of only working for 6 months.Good luck, keep us posted.
