I have been doing nursing work for over 20 yrs., but however i am not certified is there anyway I can challenge the test without taking classes. Last edit by MsTMKing on Jan 29 : Reason: word correction
You would need to contact your state's BON and ask them, because they are the ones that have the final say. Some states will let you challenge. Others won't.

Quote from roser13In terms of registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse, I have never heard of a state that would allow you to sit for the NCLEX without graduation from a nursing school. If Meriwhen says there are some, I will bow to her experience, but that is outside of my experience.

Quote from MeriwhenThe only one I can vouch for is California--you can become a LVN without graduating from a practical nursing program. But there are very specific requirements to be met, and the LVN license you get may not be able to be endorsed to other states.BVNPT - Method 3: Qualification Based on Equivalent Education and/or Experienceandhttp://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/pdf/method4.pdf for military corpsmen
