Hey everyone!

I've heard this since i was young, and was wondering if there's any truth to it: can you die if you take a bath/shower after eating a meal? Can you somehow be harmed?

Thanks!

Sounds like an old wives tale to me. Technically, I don't think we can give you medical advice. lol

Oh and I've eaten a meal while sitting in the bath and I'm still around.

Can't give out medical advice d/t TOS. I have to say, though, that my response when reading this was, "Seriously??"

Physiologically speaking...A good portion of the blood will be diverted to the digestive system right after a meal. A bath or a shower is usually done with hot water, which will dilate peripheral blood vessels, drawing yet more blood from the circulatory system. Less blood to feed the brain --> getting dizzy --> faint and crack your head in the shower or drown in the bath water...?Haha, just a thought experiment...By the way, I never heard of such warning, nor have I experienced anything out of ordinary having done the same numerous times in my life.

how on earth do the fish get away with it?

Is this somehow a take on 'don't go swimming after you've just eaten'?So many of us would be dead by now!!!!

I have only one thing to say to this....Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Weird that this should come up as I was just talking to an Italian friend who said that she never showers or bathes just after eating as she has been told since quite young that it could harm her in some way. She acknowledges that it doesn't seem to make any sense but it is so ingrained that she still somehow believes in it. According to her it is a belief that is relatively common among Italians..... My 2 cents.

i think its kinda the same thing as when people tell you dont eat and then go in a jacuzzi. atleast thats what ive heard before. something bout the heat and everything jsut kind of makes you feel light headed.

Everyone does it. It does not kill. It is a misconception
