Job Dilemma! (long sry!)Rating: (votes: 0) So I just came back from an interview at a high poverty area community hospital, and was basically hired on the spot for an Intermediate Care Unit Cardiac/ Telemetry step down! ![]() Now here's the dilemma: About 2 months ago, I was hired at a long term acute care hospital in this same area (one of the many reasons I chose to leave LTC and move to this area). To make a long story short, upon a background check, the LTAC hospital found a civil violation (from the state that I moved from) on my record from when I was 19 years old (I'm 24 now) that they consider a misdemeanor in the state in which they are located. It was a really stressful situation; I've been going through the court system in the state where I previously lived, the background check company, and LTAC hospital to try to save my job, and in the midst of everything, I became pretty nervous that I WOULDN'T have a job after everything was done with so I began to apply to other facilities in the area. Thats when I heard from this other hospital offering me the Cardiac unit!! The civil violation will be hopefully expunged off my record when I go to court in a week and my background check should be clear. NOW< what should I do about these two job offers!? The LTAC hospital would have been great but they've been jerking me around due to this violation on my record. However, I do not want to burn my bridges with them... The Cardiac Step Down unit at the community hospital seems like a fantastic opportunity that I've been waiting for since I graduated, and hospital jobs are SO hard to come by in this economy.. I feel like I should take the Cardiac Step Down job at the community hospital, but how do I nicely and professionally turn down the LATC hospital? I am going to wait to do anything until I come back from court to make sure this violation is expunged off my record FOR GOOD!!!! What should I do?! Any recommendations on which job I should chose? How to professionally turn down one of them? Etc.. Sorry this is so long, any advice is welcome!!! Thank you Jobs are very hard to come by right now. Go with the hospital since they obviously want you bad, and have already scheduled your orientation. Just tell the other place that you need to withdraw your application at this time, and thank them for their consideration.That way you can reapply at some time and you have not burned any bridges. You don't have to tell them why you are withdrawing your app. It is none of their business. Just be polite, firm and thankful with them and then get yourself to the hospital ASAP.You will learn more there and have greater chances for advancement. Comment:

Thank you! I am leaning towards the cardiac unit as well.. Im quite nervous though, cardiac wasn't my strongest point in school. I'll definitely need to brush up on EKG's and rhythm strips but apparently before we even start on the floor, we have classes concerning cardiac meds, critical care, echo, pacemaker, and respiratory. I feel like this is a great opportunity..one question- I'm going to court on July 15th to get this violation expunged, and I'm hoping it will be off my record immediately. The next time going to the hospital is for my physical and to return paperwork to HR on July 19. Should I tell them about this infraction or no? I guess I should wait to see what court says. Its so silly because it was just a violation but in this different state they are considering it a misdemeanor
