Patient admitted with restlessness and agitation. Has been refusing a foley cath at home. Put my foot down tonight and told her it was unsafe for her not to have one at this point. 1700 ml of urine out in 6 hours. (clamped and unclamped twice) Thats right, One Thousand Seven Hundred ml in her bladder. She was calm and sleepin peacefully when I left. *sigh* I have NEVER seen that much urine come out of one bladder, poor thing.
Dang, after three kids it seems I have to pee between beers I"m impressed.

YOUCH!!! She must have been full up to her bellybutton!I have OAB and 225 is my 'have to go' point! Many years ago, I had a nursing home pt w/dementia admitted because he hadn't peed in 2 days. I cath'ed him for 2200cc, with stops every 700cc for BP. Turned out he had a huge bladder stone. And, yes, his bladder was palpable clear up to his bellybutton.

wow !! she sure dosen't have a tiny bladder does she? poor lady.. gees..

Beats my record; most I've ever got out at a pop (with the pausing so I don't cause the person to have a whole new problem) was 1400. But they had to self cath at home, so maybe it just stretched out over time?
