If you could rewind and do it over again...

For any of you ARNP's or higher-level nursing degree nurses out there: if you could do it over again, would you still stick with Nursing, or would you jump right into being a PA? People ask me all the time, "why a nurse? why not be a PA?" I realize the first thing they are thinking of is money. I have asked the opinion of different ARNP's and have gotten a mixed bag of answers: "No, because you have to work under a Dr. and also pay more to write scripts per year", "Yes, because you can start earning really good money a lot faster"....

What do you guys think?
I am not a NP but NPs are getting more and more autonomy these days... in the state of GA, NPs can open their own practices. I am actually looking into NP programs right now.If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone to Med School.

If I could rewind I probably would have went to med school. On some forum I was going to a lot of med students and doctors seem to be furious about the existence of NPs and in particular DNP's. Honestly, the more I read those forums, the more I want to pursue becoming an NP.

I'd do medical school right out of college out of high school the first time...which I didn't, wasted 8 years on technology career. If I had to repick my 2nd career, I would have chosen PT instead of RN/even NP.

Quote from RNbrentMock my words, family doctors will be phased out.
