Advice on Changing Fields

Hello, I am currently a MedSurg Tele nurse with 2+ years of experience. I have gotten a bit burned out in my current field and want to try someting new. I am considering Research nursing or ICU nursing so that I can get my CRNA. Are there any nurses in those fields that can give me a bit more information about the job and some advice on how to get into these fields?
Based on my own experience, the only secure positions for Research nurses are in very large teaching facilities. Otherwise, the positions are funded by the project grant & disappear when the study is over. The nature of these positions varies a great deal, depending on the scope of the study - range from basic VS & follow up calls to involvement in clinical interventions & patient teaching. ICU is pretty much the same everywhere - LOL. Total patient care, much high level of accountability re: interdependent functions (initiating standing orders or protocols, titrations to maintain hemodynamic parameters, etc.). There's no 'down time' as the pace of the work is very constant.
