Internal medicine

I am a new grad looking into a potential position in internal medicine. I was wondering if someone could tell me a little more about this field and all it would entail. Is this a good place to start my career? Thanks!
In the US, "internal medicine" is a label used to describe an area of medical (physician) training - it does not represent an area of nursing specialization or even the way that patients are normally categorized in a healthcare setting. Probably the closest match would be a 'general medical' department.
