Hi all and happy New Years. I have a question and was wondering if you all could give me some advice. I work at a hospital and our sister hospital recently posted an opening (which is hard to get into) so I applied. I was offered the position and gladly expected. My dilemma? I found out that I was pregnant shortly after I accepted the position. Due to some delays in the transfer process I will be 15 weeks pregnant when I finally start. What is etiquette when it comes to telling my new boss? Should I tell them before I start or should I just wait until I have complete orientation and am much further along? I would lean toward not telling them until I absolutely had to but I really don't want to burn this bridge. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Nothing beats being honest from the start.

Tough callI would not want to lose the position but I would not want to mislead them either.

Your pregnancy is legally, morally and ethically NONE of their business.

Well you could wait until you start showing. At that point they'll know regardless. For some that's not until 4-5 months. For some it's at 3. I'd hate for you to lose the opportunity. Is the manager known for being reasonable or is she known as a terror?

If you already have a signed offer, you can tell them now as a courtesy, but you don't have to say anything at all. I just wouldn't mention it until the job is written in stone.

Thanks everyone. The manager seems very reasonable. To be honest I got the job through a connection and that is why I am worried about hard feelings. If that weren't the case I wouldn't reveal it but I feel like I owe them honesty since they hired me upon my connections recommendation. I don't start for another month though all of the paperwork has been signed and completed. I may tell them in the next couple of weeks or may just wait until I complete my week long orientation (at that point I will be more valuable).
