Am I too old to go back?

Rating:
(votes: 0)

I currently have my BSN, and have feeling antsy to go back to school and do something different... I would love to become a NP and work with the elderly. (I'm not much with working with little ones).
Or...
I am also tinkering with the thought of my MSN/MBA and obtaining a position with being a nurse leader/ administrator.
My issue is...
I am 51 years old. All of my classes would have to be online, as I am currently employed as a Hospice Case Manager.
I love what I do now, but want to move forward.
Advice? Opinions? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thank you all!
You're never too old to do what you really want!!!

If you want to go back then do. You are never too old.

I went back in my 40s, took 5 years to do classes one semester at a time. Mid 50s, thinking about a PhD in Ed. Go for it!

I think if you want to go back with the expectation of learning a new skill that helps your current job, or maybe branching off, then no, you are not too old. If you're like me, and want to learn an unrelated skill, then it may not be worth it. I think often of this, and know that my prospects of getting hired at my age in an unrelated job are very low. You'd be seen as improving your current job. good luck- go for it!

Non-clinical MSN is definitely do-able online. Go for it!!

Follow your heart and never think you are too old! Good luck.
