Cover Letter and Resume Help!Rating: (votes: 0) I have never written a cover letter before and am having some trouble with it. The nursing recruiter told me that I should incorporate that I am a local and did not just move here to try to find a job (even though I left home for school). Secondly, I graduated with my ADN, and I thought it would be important to incorporate that I am currently working towards getting my BSN, but I didn't know how to fit it in. Can you guys please help me? Suggestions are WELCOMED!! thanks in advance! oh and sorry but resume spacing is all messed up when pasting! I just began the job hunt as well! So I don't know how helpful my comments may be. But I did land an interview. One step closer to a job! In my cover letter I had put a little blurb about my professional goal. I know you have how you are planning to get a bachelors but what about when you are done with that? Also maybe add a little more about yourself in a way. If that makes any sense. I explained how I am compassionate in my work and just made some character shine through. Personally, I think your cover letter is good just needs to add some flowers to make it better and stand out among others. I feel a lot of people put words into a cover letter but don't let their human character shine enough. Also, you may have it on the normal copy but it should look like a letter with your contact information at the top and the hosp. information below, and the date. Not sure if it matters but it shows you pay attention to details. As for the resume, do you have a little objective blurb at the top? Like: Seeking a position as a new graduate in the Unit where I can blah, blah blah. Also, maybe add the tasks you did during clinicals, similar to how you have it under the CNA. What makes you so special? Such as: Initiating, interpreting, and assessing EKGs and electronic fetal monitors; blood glucose testing; catheterization; dressing changes; vital signs. I don't think you need to add hours after the clinical rotations? I could be wrong. And I think the "references on request" is a given and just a waste of space. That space could be used for something else!Let me know if any of this doesn't make any sense! And good luck!!! Comment: I too and on the job hunt and waiting to hear back from my first interview. I would suggest adding in your cover letter to add the specific school you are attending. "Currently I am enrolled in schools name RN to BSN program ..." On your resume under education - include the school that you are current enrolled in with your anticipated month and year of completion. There is also a Nursing Resume Help Here ---> http://allnurses.com/nursing-resume-help/Good luck to you!Comment: I didn't even think of including my school for bachelors, great idea!! Thanks!!Comment: You're welcomeComment: I am a recent grad, had my 1st interview 2 weeks ago and was offered a position today. My coverletter and resume look similar to yours except that I did not add my clinical experience. I do not think it is necessary because most nursing students go through the same rotations. If you wanted to bulk up your resume, maybe you could expand on your work experience. I agree with AllInRN about the education, before I graduated I applied for a few jobs and that is how I was instructed to word it. I would not add an objective as I was told to remove mine and I also don't have a professional goal. I was asked in my interview what my future goal is.Good luck!
