Cover Letter HELP!

Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to allnurses.com, but have found some very helpful information on here regarding resume/cover letters. So here I am, recruiting you - the experts for my help..
I am a New Grad, and have yet to get a job, or even an interview (hopefully this sounds familiar, so you can tell me all the secrets to landing that interview ). In case any of you reading this don't know, here in Canada we have two levels of nursing - Registered Nurses (RN), and Registered Practical Nurses (RPN). Both must register (hence the registered) with the regulatory body of their residing province in order to practice. The main difference between the two, is scope of practice (and education). Registered Practical Nurses are to cover patient loads with more predictable outcomes. RPN is a two year diploma, RN is a four year degree. There are very few RPN positions available in Southern Ontario at the moment..... and I am an RPN.

I have sent out "3937482345624367" resumes and cover letters to several hospitals, clinics, home care, LTC, you name it, I sent it.
So now I am turning to you for advice.. I have no previous experience in nursing besides the clinical placements that I completed during my education. Also, I do not have very much experience in many of the positions in which I have been applying to (ie: Long term care, or home care). I focused on palliative care during my studies, as this is where I plan to specialize. But right now, I need an income and I need experience. I have found a Part-Time position in a Long Term Care facility in my home town - this would be PERFECT.

So please, shoot me ANY advice that will help me get any closer to getting an interview.. I plan to email the Director of Nursing/Care with my resume and cover letter. But, I would like advice from you guys first. How do I make my Cover letter stand out, when I do not have experience in long term care?
