How long for a job offer?

Hi everyone! I understand this has been posted about a million times so I apologize in advance for being repetitive. I had an interview around 2 weeks ago and was told by the director already that I pretty much got the position and to wait for HR to contact me with the final job offer. That was last week on Friday. My question is how long should I wait till it's appropriate to contact HR for a follow up? Also what exactly should I say? I'm just worried because the next orientation starts next week Thanks!
I'd call Thursday morning simply because of the timing of the next orientation.
Thanks! Yeah if the orientation wasn't so near I honestly wouldnt have mind waiting another week because i know how busy hr can get.

I am in the same position. I have interviewed with HR, the unit manager, peer group interview, and a phone interview. Waiting patiently… it's tough. I want the position so bad, I have stop applying to other positions. I guess the wait is important because it teaches us to value to position for which we are applying.
Right? I have also stopped applying for other places as well. There's another hospital that called me up wanting me to come in for an interview I guess I'll do it since I haven't gotten an official offer yet.
I would definitely follow up with them ASAP. I feel like they are so busy this time of the year it's easy for someone to get overlooked. From my experience and others that I have spoken to, you can typically expect to hear from HR within a week of your interview. If it has been longer than a week I would definitely follow up especially if you were told that you had the job already!
I would absolutely follow up, even if it's just a quick phone call. I wanted my current job so badly I could taste it, and I had basically the same experience - being told "I want you" by the interviewer, then waiting for HR. I happened to follow up with HR, and they contacted the manager of that unit, who interviewed me - turns out through the busy-ness of the place, HR thought the manager had contacted me to come in for paperwork and the manager thought HR had! I was brought in PRN with basically full-time hours, pending a full time position opening and was just officially hired full time with benefits recently, so it does pay (literally) to do a friendly check!
I have good news to share… They called … and I said yes!!! I'm an RN in a hospital!!!! Hope you too have good news to share. Please keep us posted.
Me too! I called yesterday and they gave me the official offer yay! I start on the 16th wish me luck ���� thanks everyone for all your advice!
