Need to move but under contract

I am a graduate nurse at a hospital in Florida. I signed a two year contract with a hospital and I am a year in to the contract but need to move across the country as my significant other is being relocated for work. I have been an ideal employee and had volunteered at the hospital for a long time before becoming employed by them, but cannot afford the $6,000-$7,000 the contract says I would owe. Has anyone gone through any experiences like this? Is there anyway to get out of the contract and has breaching a contract kept you from getting future positions?
I can't answer any of your questions. But I do have one of my own. Might your current hospital be part of a chain-system that you could pursue inter-facility transfer (if poss)?Just trying to think out of the box for you ...

Do you have any PTO saved up? I had to get out of a contract to move- and my facility applied all my PTO to pay off what I owed. So I didn't actually have to pay anything (was just out extra money).

I am a clinical staffing consultant and we deal with this sort of thing often enough. If you apply for a job at a hospital and they want you bad enough, you can negotiate for them to pay that amount off for you. Where are you moving to?
Comment:
Would it be a hardship to just live apart for a year? People do that all the time.
