Offer and offer?

Hi all,

I have good news as a job hunter. I graduated in December 2014 and passed my board in May. This week I have 3 interviews - 1. Oncology at local hospital 2. Rehab and skilled nursing facility and 3. Oncology in bigger hospital.

So far I went for an interview for the first two position and going for the third on soon today.

First job after interviewing with HR, she sent me off to speak with the nurse manager. She told me everything from the unit to uniform color, introduced me to other staff nurses. At the end, she offered me to shadow the nurse next Wednesday.

Today, I received an email for reference check which is submitted online.

Chance of getting this job? Good sign to get all of this?

Second job, I was interviewed by HR, nursing manager and a director of the facility separately.

I got an offer right after the interview. They want me to start on the 6th

Both are midnight. Oncology 3/12 vs Rehab 5/8

What should I do? I would love an hospital job but want to keep rehab as an option. Just in case, thing didn't turn to the way I want.

Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

I guess its decision time. Both I am sure would be great jobs, but think about where you want to be in the future. What is your ultimate goal as a nurse. If it is a hospital department then I'd take the oncology because you will have your foot in the hospital door to be able to transfer to another department later if you choose.Rehab is great as well. What are the pros you like about rehab. Does it out number the positives of oncology. Which job do you feel you would enjoy more.I think you will have to choose between the two though. I don't think that rehab will want to wait on you and let you try out the hospital job and see if you decide to pick them or not. If you go with oncology and you change your mind and want rehab you might have to try an reapply if there is an opening

Thank you so much for the input. After consideration, I declined the offer at the rehab. After talking to both oncology unit managers, I believe I am a top candidate for both position. They offer a great orientation and learning environment which I need as a new nurse. Plus, I prefer 3/12 over 5/8. I want to be picky now since I don't want to quit a job after 2 or 3 months. Thanks once again.

I would highly recommend taking a hospital position, which I see you are doing. To have hospital interviews and job offers so soon is amazing! Great job on that, that's hard to come by. If you ever want to work in rehab/snf, don't worry, you can easily get a job there. I worked in a SNF since I couldn't get a hospital job for a while and hated it!! Most of the RNs were just working there while searching for a hospital job...I'm not sure where you live, I'm in CA; and the snf pt ratios were outrageous, low pay, low staff morale everyone was unhappy, management didn't care about anything except money, RNs had no respect at all and were dumped on by other staff since "you are the RN" I'm just soo soo glad I am not there anymore

Thank you. I have talked to many of my friends and two of them especially works there where I got an offer. They said they would pick the hospital job as well. Now I don't have a solid offer from both hospital yet. But I believe I have a pretty good chance of having an offer. I live in MI and there are many nursing schools. But we also have many hospitals and other LTC or rehab also. Like you said it is not hard to find a rehab job. So my plan is to wait for those offers or keep looking for a job since I am not in hurry. Thank you for sharing.

I hope you get one of the oncology offers. I would not have declined the rehab offer until I had a written offer in hand from one of the hospitals.
