I would like to get certified in specialties.... HELP!

I am in the process of getting my RN. After I graduate I would like to get certified in different specialties. How could I do this? Is there a website I can look up all this information in?

By specialty certifications I'm assuming you mean things such as the CCRN (ICU) CMSRN (Med-surg), CEN (ER), etc. For any nursing specialty you need to have worked in your field for 2 years full-time, or the equivalent of around 1500-2000 hrs in those 2 years. Most hospitals, at least magnet ones anyway, will offer review clases to help nurses prepare for certification, then, you take the test. If you pass, ta-da you're certified. Typically you will need to work so many hrs a year, and do other things to maintain certification.

Relax and obtain your nursing degree! That's enough on your plate for now.No matter what specialties you might think that you will like, it's likely that your mind will change a little or a lot after clinicals and practicing for a couple of years.
