Most RN's first borns?

Hi everybody,
I have a question and PLEASE dont anybody blast me for typecasting, this was not MY statement, it was a LCSW I was friends with. She claims that a huge % of nurses are first born females of alcoholic fathers. Something to do with the fact that as the first born in dysfunction family of origin you are a caregiver from the get-go. Now my father was not an alcoholic, but I am a first born. I was wondering how many of us are first-borns. (Also, she said this to me a long time ago, and I have lost touch with her, so I cannot ask her where the heck she got her information was) I was just starting school at the time and didnt really fight with her about it, just kind of gave her one of the Hmmm, thats an interesting opinion.... answers. Also, she meant it as a compliment, that we take a difficult beginning and build on our strengths and turn them into a career.
So, how many first borns are out there?

2nd born, but always the family caregiver.

Hmmm...alcoholic father AND mother, but an only child. I guess that puts me in the role of eldest. Interesting theory but not one I'd put much stock into. JMHO.

Number 6, and no alcoholism.

number 2 child, number 1 girl, abusive and alcoholic father, closet alcoholic mother.

1st born of twins ! No ETOH w/dad. Mom was nurse, she was 1st born too, no etoh w/her dad either.

#1 no alcohol abuse in family

I was the 2nd born, but first female, and it was no secret I was the favorite and I think this affected my brother later on in life.My family was the very definition of dysfunctional, there was no "fun" to it. It amazed me, with both my parents in the medical profession, that they could be so caring for others at their work, but had so little of it to give once they got home.Yup, I would definately buy into that theory. My mom and grandma were both RN's and my grandma was the 6th born, but 1st female, my mother was 3rd born but first born female.

I am first born, ETOH father.However my aunt is a nurse she is not middle, and grandpa was not ethoh.

The firstborn in our family is a doctor (female). The 2 nurses are the second and fourth born. (also females)

I am the first born and my Father is an alcoholic.

Youngest of 3No alcoholism in family.

Not an RN yet but I'm first born and father is a recovering alcoholic.
