cosmetic laser therapy/surgery

I don't know if this is already a topic on here, but does anyone know any schools that educates you in cosmetic surgery. It's an advanced RN I know, but where would you go to specialize in becoming a laser nurse, or a cosmetic derm.
We train nurses to be laser nurses at the hospital where I work but the nurse is not the one who uses the laser, she just turns it on and tests it and does the paperwork so I'm not sure what it is that you are looking for. Plastic/cosmetic surgery is learned pretty much on the job.

OR nurses handle the lasers for the cases in the OR. Big difference between that and actually using the laser on soemone's face. I definitely would not touch that with a ten foot pole, not want the responsibility. Burns are much too common place with scarring to follow.Botox is fine as well as many of the other treatments, but laser by a nurse???NEVER!

Yes, as far as lasers are concerned. You can work in a dermatologist's office doing many procedures there, but I wouldn't touch laser with a ten foot pole.I am a certified laser nurse, but I definitely would not take on the responsibility of using one on someone's face myself. I am also a certified derma-tech and have had to help cover scars that were caused by lasers.Unless you find some dermatologist that is crazy enough to let you work under his or her license.................and I think that would be quite hard to find. There are just too many things that can go wrong.

Certified laser nurses work in hospitals and usually have several years of OR experience. Derma-tech programs are available in different states. Several in California....................depends on where you are living..................but I would highly recommend getting the nursing experience first then training later. It would be much more beneficial for you and to you.

hello i just posted about this question the other night before i saw this post... most states allow registered nurses with training to perform ipl/laser photo facials etc... some states under physcians liscense..some only with supervision...and some states do not allow it. here in los angeles there are tons of rn's who do this... like i said in my other post... wheni went to my derm and told them i am going to school for nursing they some..hun get your laser training when the time comes..rns here pull about a grand a day doing cosmetic procedures/laser..so i am very interested since i am a cosmetologist..if one day i can put my beauty training to use with nursing as well as being a derm nurse in general xoxo jenn

I received a certification from the National Laser Institute. It's a good program, taught by highly qualified doctors and nurses.
