Home entryway

Where/when do you take off your shoes after leaving work and reaching your home? Does it seem your entryway is contaminated?
Before I go home, I squirt some of the hospital sanitizer that we use on the unit all over my shoes, tops and bottoms. I then leave them in the mudroom when I come home. I work in the OR, so I have one pair that I wear at work that never leaves the unit-I put them in my locker. Sometimes I wear a pair that I am trying to break in, so I will bring them home, but I always sanitize them first.

Thank You. It should be worth the effort to wipe both the tops and bottoms of your shoes with sanitizer. What is a mudroom?

I leave my shoes in my utility room. ALL my shoes not just my work shoes. Who knows what we step in at the store or parking lot. It might be worse than work! Lol.

I take my shoes off in the car. I can't drive in the inflexible thick soles of my Danskos. I carry my shoes upstairs and put them in the closet and am done.I am not worried about my shoes being contagious. In 16 years in the business I have not caught anything from my shoes.The hospital floors are cleaned more than my floors at home.

Thanks for that idea, taking the shoes off in the car. Probably shouldn't worry about it either though.

I take my work shoes off outside the front of my house. They NEVER touch any floor in my house.

We never wear shoes inside the house. Outdoor shoes are left in the entryway and then indoor slippers are worn inside the house if desired. Even if I didn't work in a hospital I wouldn't wear shoes indoors, it's an Asian custom/habit from my husband.

A mudroom is like a utility room. My washer and dryer are in my mudroom, along with a sink and shelving. I think this must be a southern term! I probably am being a big wuss about leaving my shoes in the mudroom, but I have no idea what sort of goobers I am transferring to my carpets when I wear shoes in the house. I don't even wear my regular shoes in the house, and I steam clean my carpets every month. (OK, so I admittedly have OCD.) When I returned from setting up the medical shelter at Katrina, I simply tossed my Danskos in the trash. Can you imagine what sort of nasty organisms must have been on THOSE shoes?!?

I take off shoes and clothes by the front hallway,drop em in a bag..and come back for them later after I rest..then I wipe down the shoes and toss the clothes in the wash.
