APUS American Public University systemsRating: (votes: 0) Hello! While I've not taken classes through APU, my husband takes his courses through AMU (which is a branch of APU). If you know where you'd like to transfer to, I would work closely with an advisor there regarding which courses to take. APU is a for-profit college, so you may actually find a better deal if you go through a juco that offers the online classes you're looking for. I believe APU is $250 per credit hour? (Correct me if I'm wrong; just going off the top of my head). I was going to finish undergrad gen eds through AMU but found the same classes through a juco in the same state and district as my home address, making tuition $81 per credit hour. Also if you find an in-state college, you still may be paying less (for example, taking undergrad gen eds through Parkland is $148 per credit hour if you're in the same state, and their classes transfer without a problem to University of Illinois). If you're at all unsure, I'd look into a juco with a good relationship with the institution you'll eventually want to transfer to - this can save you quite a bit of money in non-transferable classes! Comment:
I took several classes from APUS and had no trouble transferring them to my school. Before you take any class, copy and paste the "course description" and send it to your advisor. They should have no problem telling you if it will work or not. APUS is accredited so it just boils down to taking the right class for your pre-reqs. IMHO, if your advisor can't tell you if the class will be accepted based on the course description, you need a better advisor
