Can someone please make a larger foley drainage bag for CBIs so I do not have to be in the room every 30 minutes to empty 2L out of the bag as it is about to burst? Thanks
Your bags only hold 2L?News- there are much bigger bags out there then 2 L..... I think standard foley cath bags are 2L. CBI bags are about twice that big.

Ours are 3L and I've still had to be in the room Q 30-45 min to emtpy.

Ours are 3L and I've never had to run in the room that often to make sure they didn't run out or overfill the catheter bag. You couldn't be running them that fast ???

Ours are 2L. Thankfully we don't get them that much on our floor. We run then as fast as needed to clear the clots. Isn't that what it's for?

When you have 6L running in wide open and only a 3L bag for output, well... do the math. LOL

nursing 6207- That is exactly what they are for, clearing clots, but that is only one of the reasons. They are also used immediately post op (eg. TURBT) to apply pressure in the bladder to prevent bleeding.

Every 30-40 minutes? The last guy I had required me to be in there every 10-15 minutes to empty his bag and his UTI still ended up getting into his kidneys and then blood stream causing him to be shipped down to the ICU as he was going into septic shock.

i experience this quite a bit as well.. depends on how fast you have to run the irrigation

Just piggy back one foley bag into another. Take off the "foley" part of the second bag and put the spout from the first into the rubber tubing from the second. Then unclamp the first bag and it will drain into the second. When you hang them below the bed, make sure the upper one is hung a little above the lower.
