Stetoscope Issues

Hey, I have a 40 year old Original Littmann Pediatric Stethoscope (my mom's when she went to nursing school all those years ago). After finding and replacing all the parts required or worn, I now am faced with a new problem. The head of the stethoscope refuses to twist and is stuck in bell position. I cannot make use of the brand new diaphragm. Does any one have any ideas they would be able to share for me to be able to return this stethoscope to its original glory and functionality?
Well you could take it completely apart. That is remove all the removable stuff and take off the tubing and shoot some of this stuff on it. Then clean it up really good if you can get it to turn.http://www.blastercorporation.com/PB_Blaster.html it's only 3 or 4 dollars a can.

I would bet you Littman would be amenable to fixing it, even if not for free.
