never heard of it either?

This is really common in the Philippines. What we do is when a IV cannula is dislodged we change the cannula part with a sterile needle with cover so that it wont be expose to the surroundings while you are looking for a new. It should be actually 'new site, new set' but they would rather save because after all its a DEVELOPING country. Tough times!

I have never heard of this either. If an IV is dislodged, we always restarted the IV with a new IV kit.

Not only have I not heard of this type order, I think it is impossible to keep anything sterile once you have disconnected it from the sterile field. In this case, the field would be the entire set. When I remove tubing I place a sterile cap on the end. Then, when I attach it again I clean with alcohol.

Hmmm... remind me not to get sick in the Phillipines! Yikes!
