When do I have to do continuing ED?Rating: (votes: 0) Yes, it is different for every state. For example, in WA..it we have to have 45 credits in 3 yrs. My birthday is in December, so my credits don't even count until then. (this is a new process for WA) I have three years to acrue the credits, so through Dec 2014. You should have plenty of time.Have a safe journey! Comment:
In Pa, as long as your first renewal is within 2 yrs of graduating, you do not need the CEU's. After that you have two years to earn them.
Comment:
Depends on your state. Many do not require continuing ed for the first renewal. Check with your state board.

I'm also licensed in Massachusetts. The BORN requires 15 CEUs in 2 years, but none for your first renewal. Also, you may want to check when your renewal date. It's based on your birthday, just like your driver's license. I passed the NCLEX at the end of July, and my first renewal was 18 months later, in January.

great thanks for the info. Where do I find my renewal date and what do you have to do to renew your license? Is there another test or just a fee?
