Gastric acid

Why gastric acid is produced more between 10pm to 2am?

I thought gastric acid was only produced when we eat food. From what source are you getting that it is produced more between 10pm and 2am?

I don't think it's secretion is governed by time in any way. There are really 3 things that determine gastric acid secretion:1. Thought, smell or taste of food.2. Distention of stomach when food enters the stomach.3. When the food enters the small intestine (but this counts for very little of the total acid % secreted)Histamine, gastrin, acetylcholine and somatostatin are the major hormones at work... but not all of them obviously. So yeah... time... don't think it really has much to do with this...
