simple math ques but I am confusedRating: (votes: 0) patient's ordered dose is 2mcg/kg/hr and her weight is 158 ibs. What is dose in mcg/hr. We usually give answers in mcg/kg/min but its asked in mcg/hr It doesn't matter what the units are, the math process is the same. Looks to me like they are testing your ability to apply the process and how you can think critically/logically about a problem. Comment:
I'm sorry are you asking how the question should be worded or how to solve the question?
Comment:
158/2.2=71.81kg71.81x2mcg=143.63mcg143.6 is your answer I think- is that the same as you are getting? If you wanted it in mcg/min, you would just then divide by 60.

Quote from Mrs. SnowStormRNHi. IDK if you are new to the site, you appear to be a student - but your screen name says RN. The site has rules against this, so when posting a question like this be careful because STAFF monitors the questions pretty often and if I noticed it, they might also notice it. So you may want to adjust your screen name if you are a student, because you cannot put RN credentials behind your name otherwise. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Quote from TreniaCould be RN to BSN.
Comment:
158lb/2.2lb= 71.81kg convert pt weight into desired system of measurment 2mcgx71.81kg=143.62mcg/hr
Comment:
The question is correct because you cant have the answer in mcg/kg/min or per hr because you have used the KG portion to solve the problem. Therefore your answer is either in mcg/min or per hr depending on what you want to input.
