English As a Second Language

Hello all. English is my second language and I am working on getting into a second degree BSN program. For those who have studied and passed the certification exam, was it very hard to do with English being your second language? I graduated from a 4 year college in the USA but I was thinking maybe nursing would be harder for a person whose native language is not English. I would love to hear about your experiences at school if your native language is not English. Thank you!
I assume that the TOEFL is super easy. I assume this given some of the people I work with everyday who struggle to make themselves understood in english. They passed and if some of these people passed I guess it must be pretty easy.I am not bashing anyone here. I understand that it is a very difficult thing to master. As soon as I am able to make myself understood in a hospital enviroment in something other than english I will get on my high horse.

I think your English is just fine. I would have never known it was a second language for you.

English is my second language. I did not find that a particular hindrance to my nursing education. Science did not come very easy to me, so I found that a challenge, not to mention the absolute irritation that nursing school is. But English, no, that is not a problem.

You probably won't have a problem. A lot of medical terms come from Latin and German anyway, don't they?

As long as you know your material, you will be fine. My advice for you is to study hard!If there is any topic or word you come across while studying just look it up. At least that's what I did( English is my second language as well). Good luck with the exam whenever you take it!
