19 a bunch of us nurses from where i used to work went away for a night of partying. A dr. we work with came. We are all from the ICU days and nights. He sat down and apologized to all the night nurses saying "If I was an A-hole to you, I'm sorry. Feel free to get it all out now. i have been mean on the phone to nights and have no reason to be" He then told us if it wasn't for the nurses in the ICU all the patients would be dead.

See, there are some stand-up docs out there.
The doctors I work with are great, of course there is always a bad apple in the bunch BUT for the most part they're great. Honestly, some of the nurses I work with are worse. LoL!

YAAAA the appreciation is great to hear. We have to have more of that from nurse to doctors also

Tell that doc we sent him Kudos!

It is always good to hear this...sort of puts them in a different light. Remind him of these words the next time he is being a jackwagon and then tell him that you recorded his shot-marathon while you were out partying. Wait to see the look on his face and then let on that you are joking! Humor is a useful tool. HUMILITY is an even better one. Good for the doc! And kudos to you all for inviting him out.

I hope he remembers that the next time he gets a call in the middle of the night.

Actually I have been very fortunate. i consider these nurses like family. I haven't worked there since december, and i miss them greatly. I would go back if it fit into my lifestyle right now. I wouldn't want to go back and screw them over if I couldn't keep up the schedule. (shift work is just not working for me right now with my daughter) The doctors are pretty good with the exception of a few A holes.See, i worked nights then days. What a difference! The doctors treat the nurses like peers, we all joke around, go out to dinner after work, they throw chirstmas parties in their homes and invite us. They treat the night shift kind of crappy though. Until they get to know some of us. But this one admitted it. And apologized. And bought is shots.

We work as a team in the ED ... and go out together (nurses, docs, techs, and whoever else wants to come) on a semi-regular basis.

No, I don't think of him as a hero. I think it was nice he could say he is wrong, and then show appreciation. Whenever someone has made a good call on his patients he has been thankful. Geez, I thought it would be nice to hear some people can own up to their mistakes.
