Nurses dating Doctors??

Rating:

i have heard the hospital I work for is instituting a specific no tolerance policy for nurses dating doctors within the same departments etc. Im just wondering if there are other policies like this in other hospitals specifically aimed at nurses and MDs? I havent seen this in writing yet but I personally feel the policy should include every employee? Anyone heard of this?
Definitely seems strange that it only includes nurses and docs. Another thing - if you were discreet and appropriate on the job, how would anyone be able to prove that you broke this rule?

There must have been some sort of isuue that happened for a policy to specify nurses and doctors like that.

Comment:
So that means that docs that try to fool around with nurses will lose their privileges?Or does this just affect nurses?

Comment:
The way it was tentatively explained by a NM is that it applies directly to the nurses im not sure about the MD's consequences.

I agree we all feel like the nurses are now being looked at as the instigators! If its aimed at us because of a few workplace relationships gone wrong between RN's and MD's then why not institute a policy addressing all workplace relationships! You can be sure the MD's are not being addressed and accused as the nurses are! Im not sure that we can claim sexual harrasment due to the fact that we have several male nurses and female MD's on staff.

I'd wonder about the MD's consequences, since i could definitely see an issue where i work, where nurses are hospital employees, and the docs are "private physicians". That would be the first excuse my facility would come up with.

I keep my personal life out of the work place and wish others would do the same. Nurses and docs ...who cares as long as they keep it private and/or doesn't interfere with their work. Frankly, I don't care to know who is dating who, who is cheating on who etc.

I agree I too could care less who is doing anything with anyone as long as its keppt out of my face im fine. However this policy has people viewing nurses as the cause how does admin know its not the MD's fault?

I'd sort of care if it were being done in the janitor's closet (yeah, that was the latest rumor at work over a certain doc's resignation, that one of the ER docs and one of the ER's PCTs were, uh, getting together in a janitor's closet, and got caught when someone went there to get a mop for puke).
