RN refresher course needed in NYC

Greetings all! I just moved to NYC and am finding it impossible to find a job. I graduated w a BSN 4 years ago, and just took my boards and got my license in the past year. I have had several interviews and am told that I need a refresher course. If anyone knows of any course offered in NYC, I would be appreciative....thanks all.
Not to sure about NYC, but our community college offers a refresher course every summer. It's meant for RN's wwho have been out of nursing a while and for those that waited like you did to take your state boards. I would recomment checking with the local CC's and see what's available.Have a Great Day And Be SafeJerry

Thanks Jerry, I've been on the phone all day to all the community colleges, and nursing schools in the area. Not even one school has an RN refresher course this summer, weird.....Quote from jerryh55Not to sure about NYC, but our community college offers a refresher course every summer. Most are not going to have summer programs, staff want time off. Also check with hospitals in your area for programs, but then again you will have problems finding summer programs as they spend most of their time with new grads, etc.....and you are late looking for the summer. You may wish to contact the NY BON for a list of approved programs in your area.

I'm in an RN re-entry program now and have one month left. The cost was almost $2,000.00 and is held at a local hospital. The cost is refundable if we get a job and work for that hospital for six months. To give you some info, there is eight weeks of classroom time (2 days/week for six hours each day). Then there is a month of clinical time (3 days/week, for eight hours each day). It's pretty intense. Many have been out for almost 20 years and are quite nervous about getting back onto the floors, but the instructors are great and realize this. I'm surprised in NY you're having a tough time finding a place for this type of course. In my state, the BON lists a few places for these courses. I live in a small state and there aren't many places to go and they aren't often too often, but there are some places. Try looking up RN re-entry instead of refresher courses. Maybe that'll help you. Good luck!!

If you are able to get to Long Island, try molloy college. www.molloy.edu They may not have the info on the website, but you can call the continuing ed dept. You can get there by Long Island railroad from manhattan

Search New York Nurses Association. They have a list of refresher courses. The list is under the education part of the website. I agree try Molloy- small scholl - often best in my opinion.
