no longer can work long hours

That thread would be helpful for me. I am in the "now what do I do" phase. I can no longer work 80 hour weeks, with multiple phone calls to me on my day off and get paid for 40 hours per week. I can no longer afford to be a nurse, financially, emotionally, my health is beginning to take a hit, I have no life, just work.
You've allowed yourself to be a doormat. Assert yourself - get caller ID and use it after announcing that you are OFF on your day off unless it is a life and death emergency. You have nothing to lose since they are eating you alive. What they're doing may even be illegal - don't know your circumstances. Consider it a part of your new "wellness" program.

Honey, you're preaching to the choir.

80 hours/weekly?No one can do that for very long.An old piece of advice, courtesy of my grandpa:"Overtime is extra money. If you're depending on it to make ends meet, you need to change the ends or the means."

OP must be salaried....time to ask for a BIG raise or find something else.

Start saying no. Your health is more important. Perhaps it's time to look for a new job. I feel you....the first seven months of nursing, I was exhausted. Always picking up shifts and saying yes to OT. I learned, and I told my manager exactly how I felt. After that period, I quit being so accommodating. There's a limit to how many extra shifts I'm willing to work. We all have a life.
