Afraid to float!Rating: (votes: 0) That first float to a new floor is scary! I work for a small hospital, so we float all over; I've been to every dept but two (ER and psych). Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if you're a new nurse. Just be nice, take good care of your patients, and you'll be fine. Good luck! Don't assume what you've heard about the charge nurse is true. Everyone's perspective is different--you may get along well with him/her. If the charge is a bit of a pain, surely one of the other nurses can answer questions. Comment:
Just be the professional that you are. Try to stay calm and focused. Strive to be the best you can; perfection is rarely attainable! good luck

I hate floating. BUT it is also an opportunity to see if there are other floors you might like to work on. It is also a nice way to network and make new contacts/friends. I have found that there is one floor that I really enjoyed working on the two times I have floated there, so I now know that if an opening pops up, I might bid on it. So try to use it as an opportunity to see of there is something else you might like to try someday.
