just disgusted with news story.

Watching the local news just now and saw the preview about a segment related to the video taped evidence of abuse at a local nh. The family set up a camera. The healthcare "professional", a cna or a nurse, doesn't really matter, was shown basically beating up a defenseless resident while they were laying in their rooms. I'm disgusted. I almost can't watch it.
What's wrong with people??
It is horribly sad and this person deserves the maximum punishment allowed by law. It is absolutely inexcusable.On the other hand this is the very message that gives nursing homes such a bad name. The public, not previously associated with any good experiences in long term care, begin to believe that this is the norm. The news shows one person doing some horrible, despicable act but fail to ever show (or speak of) the daily compassion that 99% of the staff demonstrate on a daily basis. This care is given unselfishly and often without any gratitude from those receiving the care. I absolutely hate these types of news segments. It makes my job to build trust so much more difficult. Resident/families come in prepared to "fight" because the news showed them they have to.
