Anxiety disorder

Hello. I'm posting this because I do not know where else to turn to. I feel like I need to talk to educated people who won't judge me. Please listen to my story and give input. I'm 20 years old and I have a severe anxiety disorder. I was never diagnosed though. I have seen a few therapists and it did not improve. I haven't really gotten to know any of them and feel that they never understood me. My grandmother died from lung cancer a year ago. It hurt our family. I became very afraid of having the same outcome. I stopped going to college and living in a dorm. I came home and started taking classes online. I didn't want to be around people smoking outside of the dorms. I'm living at home but I am afraid to be here. Our house was built in the 1950's and has asbestos siding. Every second of every day I am afraid of getting lung cancer. I have not resorted to pills because I want to get over it on my own without relying on anything. I have tried Ativan though and it didn't help. Has anyone heard of someone who worries about one thing all the time? What are your suggestions?
You need to see a health care provider. This is a nursing message board. We do not provide medical advice.

I have seen a few. Would you be able to recommend another website where I could get suggestions on who to go to next?

Comment:
Good reliable medical advice is not available via the Internet. You need to see a licensed physician, PA, NP, or therapist.

Yes I have seen all of those. They don't know what to do.

They are all WAY more qualified to make a diagnosis and treatment options than a bunch of nurse hopefuls, nursing students, and nurses over the Internet who do not have the opportunity to examine you and view your full medical history. Everyone that I listed is the most qualified to help. I wish you the best of luck in finding someone that can help you.Per the terms of service you agreed to when you registered:"This is a board for nurses and nurses-to-be to discuss nursing issues. Please do not ask for any medical or nursing feedback related to a health situation that affects you, a family member, or someone that is not a patient under your care. This is not a free medical advice board. Please be aware that allnurses.com cannot be responsible for problems resulting from reliance on medical or nursing advice received here. If you have a medical problem, please seek attention from your health care provider."

Please see your healthcare provider. One who can check you for physical problems. He/she can then refer you to a competent mental healthcare provider, if need be.We cannot, per TOS, provide you with any answers to what may be the problem nor make recommendations. We do wish you well and hope you can get the help you need.
