I think as long as you are with a facility for a year you are entitled to FMLA. Check your policy though. Do whatever is best for you. Congrats on your pregnancy! Comment:
Maternity leave depends on the laws in your state (some states pay for maternity leave under state temporary disability policy) and your facility's HR policies. FMLA requires that you work 1000 hours in the past 12 months to qualify (1000hrs is approximately 6 months full time)As far as your medical care, you need to check with your treating physician for guidelines. If you have specific medical needs you need to self-identify to HR and/or your manager to request temporary accommodations.

Per Diem positions are generally not benefits eligible positions. You could get the time off, I'm sure, but I'd doubt that you'd get any Paid Time Off. Everywhere I've worked, if someone drops to Per Diem, they lose all their benefits and their PTO is cashed out.

I believe under the ADA you have a right to check your sugar without fear of repercussion...congrats and best of luck on your pregnancy - I had twins while on an insulin pump and had a great pregnancy!!! make sure you get with your endo to get your guidelines, and if you're not already on a pump be prepared for a LOT more shots!
