How long do you think I would need to take off work?

I have to have a second look at a multi-nodular goiter soon and because of the increased symptoms I anticipate they may suggest a thyroidectomy. Our patients are always admitted afterward, so I have no idea what the usual time off from work these patients usual take. I want to make sure I have enough vacation time left for it before I take any time off over the holidays. Can anyone give me any idea of how much time off is usually needed for uncomplicated recoveries? Thanks, Brynn
