what are the proper steps in wound dressing?

i already know how to do wound dressing,i just want to explore and know other proper ways of doing it. to us nurses we are client-centered so we always consider how our patients feel when we care for their wounds. I encountered doctors doing wound dressing and they get the scab and let the wound look so fresh.. any insights on that?
