What if Foley does not have sample port?Rating: (votes: 0) I would apply a new sterile collection bag. You could clamp the catheter with an elastic or something that will not damage the catheter... Comment:
Check your collection bag?, usually the port is on the tubing of the bag, not the foley itself

The sample port will be on the tubing, not the catheter itself.

you can aspirate from the tubing, without a port, but there is usally a port somewhere. The main idea is to be sterile, of course

If it doesn't have a sample collection port, it's a cheap foley cath. This would require you to break the sterility of the cath/break the TES every time you need to do a urine sample or culture. So, if the culture comes back negative, the patient may now be positive after you opened the catheter to get the sample lol.

To answer your question, though, you would get the sample from the arrow pointing at #2 with a 30 second scrub with alcohol prior to collecting so you don't contaminate your sample. Also, scrub when finished collecting, too, to minimize risk to patient.
Comment:
The port is on the drainage tube. The green and yellow port on the clear tubing
Comment:
Where is port on this urinary bag and how to take sample of patient with cathter above and this bag on it?
Comment:
That's not a catheter bag it is a ng drainage bag.
Comment:
You are using the wrong bag I think.
