What jobs are the safest?Rating: (votes: 0) Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com staff nurse in the hospital. Management and education have been getting cut badly over the last few years across my entire region. We completely shut down our home health/visiting nurses division after 80 years of service to the community this year. Sad. If you look at different hosp job postings, you will see what they are most short in. Usually icu and er.good luckgvmt like va is always a little better as well, same with working in a unionized hosp. Comment:

Quote from OCRN3Which RN jobs are the safest in this economy? State or county? Staff floor? Management? Educators? Hime health? Private hospitals? I know no jobs are fail proof but which jobs are the most recession proof? Thoughts?Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com

For now the safest place seems to be where you encounter few MAs or techs who can pick up your job responsibilities.Look at doctors' offices. When I was younger, there were plenty of LPNs working there. Except for the occasional NP, nurses are gone from those settings for the most part.
