Random question: Would you wear a 300 watch to work

I have been working m/s for almost 2 weeks and have noticed that so many of the nurses I work with wear either the Micheal Kors watches or coach watches. You wonder how I get close enough to notice this, but if you know the watches they are unmistakeable. I also notice that most of them wear their ginormous wedding rocks and since I am a newbie fresh out of nursing school, of course I leave my rock at home, but I was just wondering and polling you random nurses if you would risk wearing a very expensive timepiece or your wedding rings to work all day? Being so new, to me it screams INFECTION!!! lol. I wear my little old nursing school watch and feel so plain next to all the bling on the floor....
Yes. My watch cleans up well with alcohol swabs.

$300 is not an expensive watch, I'd say that's rather inexpensive. Coach and Michael Kors are wanna be brands for posers. Would I wear a Patek to work if I were employed as a floor nurse? No.

To me, $300 is expensive. I have a $250 Citizen watch but I would never wear it to work. I wear a cheaper watch with a second hand that works just as well as a Michael Kors or Coach watch. Plus, it lights up.

Lol... the day $300 isn't expensive to me for a watch, I will smile

$300 for a watch!!?OMG! I think that is a lot of money.I wear a $20 watch I bought at the drug store. Keeps perfect time, is waterproof and easy to take off/on for when I am showering pts.I can't imagine paying that much for a work watch. A dress up watch maybe, but not a work watch!

Comment:
I wouldn't even pay $300 for a watch, so I guess the answer is no.

Comment:
I only own one watch, and I wear it all the time.

I don't wear any accessories. No watch, no jewelry, I don't even carry my own stethoscope. I just find it gross. Just my scrubs and me, I save the fabulousness for my days off.

Comment:
Any jewelry, expensive or not, be it necklace, watch, ring, earring, etc, you wear at your own risk. Lost, stolen or broken - your loss. Even if a pt , adult or kidder, is responsible - your loss. Moral of story - if it's worth something to you, don't wear it to work!

I spend under $20 for my watches for work. $300 is an expensive watch...at least for the majority.
