Are sign-on bonuses a thing of the past?Rating: (votes: 0) Anymore when I see a sign on bonus I assume that that is a company I wouldn't want to work for. If given the current market they cannot get to keep nurses, what is wrong in that facility. I see modist bonuses of $500-$2000 but all at paces I know very few people stay long enough to collect. Interesting! I'm very glad to say that that has not been my experience so far, LOL

I got an 11,500 sign on bonus (BSN) and my work place is quite a desirable place to work for. I heard now it is up to 13,000.

This is a new grad sign up bonus though. There is another hospital that gives 5k bonus to any new hires here.

What part of the country is this? I know several able new grads who would move in an instant to find a decent position!

My hospital gives out bonuses in exchange for 2 year contracts.

No sign-on bonus at our facility. We do offer tuition reimbursement for the last semester of school for new grads. We also offer bonuses to staff (not only nurses) who refer someone who is ultimately hired. If they split the bonus with them then that is their business. These are only offered when a critical position is needing to be filled.

What?! You guys can't say they are offering bonuses and not say what health system it's in, or at least what state they're in!

I haven't seen them in awhile in my area. I graduated in Dec 2008 and got a $5,000 bonus and they stopped offering them in the spring of 2009 (I was grandfathered in). Every once in awhile, I'll see an ad offering one for a very specific specialty and they always require experience in that area.
