Compassion FatigueRating: (votes: 0) Nurses are given 2-4 years of training, an overview of diseases, disease processes, treatments, and nursing care. Then, you get a job, and a few weeks of training, and you are on your own. The pace is hectic and it can be overwhelming. You are now dealing with your patient's trauma, the family's drama, and meeting the requirements of the workplace. Then, everyone wonders why in 2-3 years nurses leave the profession. Compassion fatigue is a problem many nurses deal with but may not realize what it is. I am doing research for my senior project and would appreciate it if my fellow nurses would follow the above link and take the quick survey.
